I have been looking on the web for a vision stencil with the BPMN symbols, but have not found anything (except for a commercial modeling tool by ITPearls (they offer a sneak preview, but I have not tried it yet). Is anybody aware of such a template? Would anybody have interest in one?

I've made some simple BPMN visio stencils (created with visio 2003, but saved as visio 2002).

Addition (May 18th, 2004): Now confirming to BPMN 1.0 final spec.

Hello,

at our university, we created a simple BPMN 1.0 template for Visio.
It is used for teaching students the bpmn notation. Some simple static model checking is in the development.

Tomi,

Could you share your template with the community? It would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Due to public demand, I have created a separate download page for the templates here.

Frapu, monteiro, tomi - please email me your contact information, so I can credit you properly on the download page (and send you a little thank you).

Best regards

Many thanks to all of you for sharing with the community this excellent work !

P.S. MS Visio 2003 will have/has a BPMN template but I don't know if this is possible to use it in MS Visio 2000.

I have Visio 2003 and it does not come with a BPMN stencil by default. It does, however, have an Event-driven Process Chain stencil, which might be interested for those looking at ARIS as a modeling tool.

Best regards

Jean-Jacques Dubray has posted a nice page on BPMN, and an interesting proposal for a business process meta model. You can find the page here: http://www.ebpml.org/bpmn.htm.

I just thought I'd give you a heads up on the number of template downloads so far (June 13th - July 10th), from the main site:
Frapu's Template: 266
Monteiro's Template: 182
Tomi's Template: 172

Not bad, guys - congratulations.

Thanks for the rating. I revised my stencils with

* Better connector (hopefully placed symmetric now)
* Sequence Flow is now curved

Michael, please update my stencils on the main site.

Have fun everyone!

Honestly I find the 0.9 stencil better than all these stencils you have here. In the frapu stencil, drawings tend to break apart when you move them. Try putting a swimlane and move the outer box and it disconnects from the shape itself. Also, try to put the text part outside the container for some shapes. For example, the message shape, being small and round, should have the text label outside the circle itself. In this case the text is inside at the center and it just messes it up.

The problem with the 0.9 stencil is it doesn't have gateway shapes.

Does anybody have the original R3 stencil in Visio Business Modeler. I bought this program - have some saved diagrams - but its pretty brain dead without VBM.

I may move over to UML - but I was rather attached to EPC - and the new version in 2003 definetely s**ks.

Hey guys,
We also published Free Visio 2003 Stencils that we developed as part of our tutorial articles on BPMN. You're all welcome to download and enjoy.

Also - we'd love any feedback from folks.
